University of Iowa
The University of Iowa is one of the nation's premier public research universities with 33,334 students from 114 countries and all 50 states. Iowa is ranked 31st “Best Public Universities” by U.S. News & World Report and one of the top 250 universities in the world (THE).
There are 11 colleges, the largest of which is the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). Students have a choice of over 200 degree programs, and over 500 student organizations.
Students whose scores do not meet the minimum scores on the TOEFL or IELTS, but are otherwise academically admissible may be granted conditional admission to CLAS. Students then enroll in the Iowa Intensive English Program (IIEP). Upon completion of the IIEP, students begin their degree programs.
The IIEP provides intensive English instruction and a cultural, social, and academic orientation. Instruction emphasizes spoken and written English crucial to U.S. college and university study.
