Established in 1936, Columbia College proudly serves as Canada’s longest established international private college. Columbia College is a liberal arts college providing first and second year University Transfer courses, Associate Degrees in Arts and Science, a university preparatory foundations program conforming to British Columbia Ministry of Education guidelines, and excellent intensive English language instruction in the English Language Centre.
Since 2004 Columbia College has been permitted to offer Associate Degree programs under the written consent of the Minister of Advanced Education. Thousands of students, both Canadian and international, have progressed through Columbia’s programs to successful academic careers at Canadian universities such as University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and University of Victoria. Many more have completed Associate Degrees with Columbia College and used this qualification to find employment both within Canada and elsewhere.
Since April 2013, Columbia College has offered its programs in a new five-story building on 438 Terminal Avenue, just east of Vancouver’s city centre and Science World sight. This building (Main Campus) offers excellent facilities to students, including science and computer labs, lounges, a bookstore and a library. In September 2017, Columbia College acquired an additional campus building on 333 Terminal Avenue, just east of the heart of downtown Vancouver and the natural waterways of False Creek. The North Campus is across the street from the Main Campus (438 Terminal Avenue). Within minutes, students can access the Skytrain and Olympic Village, as well as the scenic False Creek sea wall.
Despite continuous expansion, Columbia College retains its friendly, family atmosphere and remains committed to providing extensive support to students through international recruitment officers, counsellors, tutors and nurses. This means that students from overseas are given the opportunity to adjust to a Canadian lifestyle under minimal pressure, and can then move on to a major university with a much greater chance of success.
Columbia College is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. Students enjoy the stunning natural beauty of Vancouver, one of the most spectacular cities in the world, as well as one of its cleanest and safest. If you are considering a North American education, we invite you to join us in Vancouver. Let Columbia College help you spring into your future – an exciting and successful academic career.
