AUB, established in 1866 and accredited by the Middle States Association and chartered by the department of Education of the state of New York, offers approximately one hundred undergraduate, graduate and post graduate degrees programs in six faculties: Agricultural and Food Sciences, Arts and Sciences, School of Business, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Health Sciences and Medicine including School of Nursing. The 420-bed medical center is the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine and is an acknowledged major health facility in the Middle East. 9200 students (full-time or part-time) from 86 countries are enrolled at AUB with 1200 full time and part time faculty members. Almost 40% of undergraduate students receive financial aid covering 15% to 75%. AUB has 7 men and women dormitories. AUB prides itself on its 4 libraries, Archaeological Museum, Geological Museum, Biological Museum and a number of research centers.
